According to professor schick in what ways does the budget help people

Answers

Budgets play a critical role in reflecting societal priorities and individual financial decisions, affecting areas like social welfare and government intervention. They allow for tracking finances, setting priorities, and understanding policy effects. Budget analysis is essential in evaluating the effectiveness and equity of government spending and taxation.

Professor Schick discusses how budgets aid individuals and society by reflecting policy implications, societal priorities, and affecting personal choices. A budget helps to track income and expenditures, identify wasteful spending, and give insight into achieving financial objectives. It also shows how government policy in areas such as social welfare, social insurance, and government intervention may affect the economy and individual lives.

Budget analysis can explain past policy outcomes, such as the liberalization of abortion laws, and aid in understanding current challenges with the analytical tools presented. For individuals, adhering to a budget may be difficult due to the choices it necessitates, often involving the cost of giving up personal pleasures for financial stability.

In state policy, budget analysis examines fairness in tax burdens, whether expenditures meet societal needs, and priorities set for education, health, and infrastructure. The format of the budget, including General Funds, Special Funds, and Bond Funds, determines the distribution and specific use of resources.

How did Militarism and Nationalism lead to World War 1?

Answers

Nationalism was a great cause of World War one because of countries being greedy and not negotiating. Nationalism shows you are proud of your country and want it to be the best. A lot of causes all linked back to countries all wanted to be better than each other. Nationalist groups in Austria-Hungary and Serbia wanted independence. France wanted Alsace Lorraine back from Germany who was lost in 1871 Franco-Prussian war. The use of Nationalism gave nations false hope and aggressive to win the war. Even if they weren’t able to win a war due to their strength and understanding of plans and leaders. This leads to Imperialism. As you can see Nationalism had made a big dent in Countries understanding and strength of war. Also how different countries wanted land to help their plan succeed in winning the war.

Militarism could have cause the war due to the naval and arms race. The main event of Militarism causing World War one was the naval rivalry which was made after 1900. Britain had the most powerful navy in the world. The new Keiser Wilhelm announced his intention to build a bigger German navy than Britain. Britain felt very threatened by this. Germany’s navy was much smaller than Britain’s navy but the British army was put all over its colonies so they can be protected. Germany didn’t have a big Empire like Britain but most people agreed, at the time, they were the best trained and the most powerful. The Kaiser felt he needed a bigger navy than Britain to protect its country.
The war started mainly because of four aspects: Militarism, Alliances, Imperialism and Nationalism. This is because big armies become potential threats to other countries, other countries started forcing alliances in order to secure land. ... The overall cause of World War was the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.

Based on the maps and your knowledge of Global history, what other states have controlled Israel-Palestine?

Answers

Answer:

i think it would be pakistan...

Explanation:

The territory of Palestine has evolved into the State of Israel after the United Nations' partition plan post-World War II. Israel declared independence in 1948 and expanded its borders through conflicts with Arab neighbors. Territories annexed over the years include the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and East Jerusalem, often leading to displacement of Palestinians.

The region of Palestine has undergone significant changes over the course of its history, particularly in the 20th century. Based on historical maps and knowledge of global history, various states have controlled the territory now known as Israel-Palestine. Following World War II, the United Nations proposed a partition plan for British-controlled Palestine, creating the modern state of Israel and delineating separate Arab and Jewish areas. However, a series of wars ensued after Israel's declaration of independence in 1948, with neighboring Arab countries like Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, and Jordan supporting the Arab Palestinians.

Israel managed to emerge as the dominant power, securing its independence and even expanding its territories, including the annexation of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip—areas originally designated for an Arab state. Jerusalem, intended to be a neutral international city, was claimed by Israel as its capital. The expansion of Israel often happened at the expense of Palestinian land and led to numerous Palestinian refugees. Over the years, peace processes have occurred, with Egypt officially recognizing Israel in 1979 after the Camp David Accords, and Israel returning the Sinai Peninsula to Egypt.

how did the Great Depression bring the rich and the poor on the same level of poverty?

Answers

1930s High Society

Sandwiched between the giddy 1920's and World War II, the 1930s saw a huge disparity in the lifestyles of the common man and those considered High Society.

The period following the Great War, the so-called “Roaring Twenties” earned its name due to the booming economy and explosion in consumerism as Americans enthusiastically embraced the future.

Innovation and increased efficiency at home and at work allowed for more leisure time and people embraced cultural and social pursuits such as literature, film, music and partying.

Women were also gaining their independence and making their mark outside the home.

But the good times came to a crashing halt on “Black Friday”, October 29, 1929 when the stock market crashed. Within a year 5,000 banks collapsed and six-million workers lost their jobs. By 1933 more than 15-million people – one-quarter of the workforce – were unemployed.

The Great Depression was partly caused by the great inequality between the rich who accounted for a third of all wealth and the poor who had no savings at all. As the economy worsened many lost their fortunes, and some members of high society were forced to curb their extravagant lifestyles.

But for others the Depression was simply an inconvenience especially in New York where the city’s glamorous venues – places to see and be seen – such as El Morocco and The Stork Club were heaving with celebrities, socialites and aristocrats.

For the vast majority the 1930s was a time of misery. But for many American dynastic families, parties helped to escape the reality on the street and the grander the better.

While storefronts stood empty, the 47-storey Waldorf-Astoria Hotel opened in 1931 at a cost of $42 million ($600 million today). Hosting a number of lavish parties during the Depression, the Waldorf even had it’s own in-house professional hostess in Elsa Maxwell. She delighted high society with her child-like bashes: costume and painting parties, cooking soirees, and parlor games. In fact, it was during this decade that this "hostest with the mostest” invented the "scavenger hunt" to keep her guests entertained.

The Ritz was another favored venue for extravagant celebrations. It hosted two of High Society’s most memorable coming out parties during the Great Depression. Socialite and “poor little rich girl” Barbara Hutton, grand-daughter of the dime-store magnate Frank W. Woolworth, made her debut there in 1933. Costing more than $60,000 ($1million today) it was one of the most glamorous parties of the 1930s. Eucalyptus and silver birch trees were imported from California, four orchestras played accompanied by singer, Rudy Vallee. It was attended by a veritable Who’s Who list of the rich and famous, including the Astors and the Rockefellers.

It was on the West Coast that even greater excesses were witnessed, at a time when most Americans could not afford to feed their family.

Newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst was fast losing revenue from advertisers taking flight. Yet he refused to believe it would last: the worse the Depression got, the more frantic Heart's spending became. Throughout the early 1930's Hearst held elaborate parties and commissioned new bedrooms at his home to accommodate all the guests. According to the Hollywood gossip and historian Kenneth Anger, the parties were "the most extravagant the movie colony had ever seen.” On New Year's Eve 1932, he held a Kids’ Masquerade that was so extravagant that gossip columnist Louella Parsons apologized to her readers and explained "the beauty of this party was that the costumes were inexpensive.”

America has never again seen such obvious excess at a time of widespread poverty, which has cemented the reputation of 1930's High Society into the stuff of legend.
