Answer 1
The word in italics is 'fickle'. The word that best matches it is 'NOT CONSISTENT'.
To be fickle means to be changing continuously; you try one thing, drop it, go for another thing, drop that one too and continuously like that. Thus, to be fickle means, not to be consistent.

hey darcf!

Explanation:

First of all you have to know the difference between travel or exile.

As for a trip, it is something we do for fun, vacations or work. But exile is something very different, since it is a situation in which someone has to shed everything they have, money, work, even the family, because of war situations, or because they are persecuting him, or by himself. starting a new life leaving its place of origin behind.

The Wanderer conveys the meditations of a solitary exile on his past happiness as a member of his lord's band of retainers, his present hardships and the values of forbearance and faith in the heavenly Lord.

The Seafarer claims that land-dwellers cannot comprehend the pain of spending winter in exile at sea, estranged from one's kinsmen and miserable in the cold. All alone, the Seafarer recounts that all he could hear was the roaring of the sea waves. Sometimes he would pretend that the calls of birds were actually the sounds of fellow sailors, drinking mead and singing songs. Alas, the Seafarer has no companion or earthly protector at sea.

The following edition und translation of the Old English Rhymed Poem, the first resolute metrical experiment in English literature, is prompted by the belief that a sufficiently conserva tive text has not yet been established, and by the fact that no English translation has appeared since Guest's unsatisfactory rendering in his History of English Rhythm in 1838.It is an elegy placed in the mouth of a man who from former happy prosperity has fallen into helpless misery. The change is due to old age, disease, and the fear of death

In The Rhyming Poem, the speaker, apparently a former king who has lost his power, yearns for his past glory as he laments his fallen condition and the changeableness of earthly fortune. The first part of the poem describes the speaker’s happy past, while the second half speaks of his gloomy present condition.

A journey is something we take for pleasure, vacation, or business. But exile is something quite different since it is a circumstance in which someone is forced to give up all they own—money, employment.

Thus, It even their family—due to armed conflict, persecution, or even because they are on their own. leaving its place of origin behind and beginning a new life.

The Wanderer depicts a lone exile's reflections on his former contentment as a member of his lord's troop of retainers, his current tribulations, and the virtues of patience and faith in the heavenly Lord.

The Seafarer asserts that people who live on land cannot understand the suffering of spending the winter in exile.

THE MATCH

There never was a time when the world was without fire, but there was a time when men did not know how to kindle fire; and after they learned how to kindle one, it was a long, long time before they learned how to kindle one easily. In these days we can kindle a fire without any trouble, because we can easily get a match; but we must remember that the match is one of the most wonderful things in the world, and that it took men thousands of years to learn how to make one. Let us learn the history of this familiar little object, the match.

Fire was first given to man by nature itself. When a forest is set on fire by cinders from a neighboring volcano, or when a tree is set ablaze by a thunderbolt, we may say that nature strikes a match. In the early history of the world, nature had to kindle all the fires, for man by his own effort was unable to produce a spark. The first method, then, of getting fire for use was to light sticks of wood at a flame kindled by nature—by a volcano, perhaps, or by a stroke of lightning. These firebrands were carried to the home and used in kindling the fires there. The fire secured in this way was carefully guarded and was kept burning as long as possible. But the flame, however faithfully watched, would sometimes be extinguished. A sudden gust of wind or a sudden shower would put it out. Then a new firebrand would have to be secured, and this often meant a long journey and a deal of trouble.

In 1827, John Walker, a druggist in a small English town, tipped a splint with sulphur, chlorate of potash, and sulphid of antimony, and rubbed it on sandpaper, and it burst into flame. The druggist had discovered the first friction-chemical match, the kind we use to-day. It is called friction-chemical because it is made by mixing certain chemicals together and rubbing them. Although Walker's match did not require the bottle of acid, nevertheless it was not a good one. It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions. In a few years, however, phosphorus was substituted on the tip for antimony, and the change worked wonders. The match could now be lighted with very little rubbing, and it was no longer necessary to have sandpaper upon which to rub it. It would ignite when rubbed on any dry surface, and there was no longer any sputtering. This was the phosphorus match, the match with which we are so familiar.

How does the author develop the idea that humanity's early fire-starting tools may have been dangerous? Please respond in three to five complete sentences, using evidence from the text to support your answer.

Answers

Humanity's early fire-starting tools may have been dangerous because in the text is says, "It could be lighted only by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions." This is dangerous because it would spew fire in all directions and if you think about it, the fire would hit something and then that thing would catch on fire. Lets say you were using the match inside your house. When you strike the match, a spark flies onto the wood floor and your house goes up in flames and you are stuck inside the house with no exit or escape. This may or may not happen, but because of the fire not being contained, there was a chance that you would be harmed.

Answer:The author develops the idea that humanity'y early fire-starting tools may have been dangerous because in the text it states, " It could be lighted by hard rubbing, and it sputtered and threw fire in all directions."  when something is thrown in an uncertain direction it becomes very dangerous and unpredictable. When the thing being thrown is able to cause more damage just on its own it becomes dangerous all in its self with the inevitable being scary.Because you don't know what it could hit or if it can become uncontrollable in an instant.  ion:

When the chorus first came about, how many members did it have? How many members did Sophocles have in the chorus for one of his plays?

Answers

The first chorus consisted of 50 members. Sophocles had 15 members in his chorus.
Final answer:

The initial chorus had fifty members, which was reduced to twelve by Aeschylus and later increased to fifteen by Sophocles, who also added a third actor to enrich the drama.

Explanation:

When the chorus first came about in Greek theatre, during the time of Thespis, it was comprised of fifty men. In Aeschylus' plays, the founder of tragedy, this number was reduced to twelve members. Sophocles, a later playwright, further innovated the chorus by increasing its number to fifteen members and by adding a third actor (tritagonist), which allowed for rich and complex storytelling with more characters and plotlines. Through these changes, Sophocles made the chorus an integral part of the drama as seen in his renowned plays such as Oedipus Rex and Antigone.
