What evidence from the passage best supports the theme that one's true nature is revealed in times of distress?

“True? Is this true, that I read here?”
“No, no—it is impossible that it can be true.”
“Miserable creature—what have you done?”
“Here you shall stay and give me an explanation.”

Answers

C. “Miserable creature—what have you done?”

The evidence from the passage that best supports the theme that one's true nature is revealed in times of distress is the third one:

"Miserable creature-what have you done?"

It is known that true feelings are revealed in difficult times because one acts without even thinking about it and just say the first thing it comes to mind. Without any boundaries, our words come out with no filter or reasoning period, so this is where we show our true nature.

In this case, in a clear moment of despair, the character calls the other "Miserable creature" and these words show feelings that have probably always been there and that come out in a moment of distress.

what is the rhyme scheme here

Answers

The ordered pattern of rhymes at the ends of the lines of a poem or verse.

Hope this answers your question ;)

The rhyme scheme of a poem is the pattern of end-of-line rhymes, represented by letters (ABABCC as an example). Identifying the rhyme scheme helps convey the poem's structure, tone, and mood. Meter variations such as sprung rhythm may also contribute to the poem's musicality and are significant alongside the rhyme scheme.

When analyzing the rhyme scheme of a poem, each unique sound is typically represented by a different letter of the alphabet. For example, a stanza with a rhyme pattern where the first and third lines rhyme, and the second, fourth, and sixth lines rhyme, with a doubling up on the fifth and sixth lines, would be diagrammed as ABABCC. This pattern is used to show the organized rhyming of couplets or other poetic structures, which can be more complex in some poems. Sometimes, poems can even include a refrain, a line that is repeated across stanzas. Additionally, there may be variations in meter, such as the use of sprung rhythm as opposed to traditional iambic pentameter, underscoring the importance of rhythm alongside rhyme.

The rhyme scheme can help convey the mood and tone of a poem, and can add to the musical quality of the language used. It is an essential component of traditional poetic forms and helps to create a structure within which the poet can operate. Understanding and identifying the rhyme scheme can deepen one's appreciation of a poem's artistry and complexity.

The sentence contains an example of?

A) simile
B) Metaphor
C) hyperbole
D) personification

I think it is a hyperbole because it says 'ever since I was born'. Obviously, this isn't possible. So, process of elimination comes in to save the day. It is not a simile because there is no 'like' or 'as' in the phrase. It is not a metaphor because the phrase does not compare anything. IT IS NOT A PERSONIFICATION BECAUSE THE phrase is giving an inanimate object emotions or other human details. So,

it is a hyperbole. This also makes sense because it is exaggerating.

In “exhalation,” why had no other anatomist tried a brain dissection before the narrators attempt?

Answers

Answer: A. Because brain disection meant certain death for the specimen

Explanation: In "Exhalation" by Ted Chiang, the reason why no other anatomist had tried a brain dissection before the narrator's attempt is because brain dissection meant certain death for the specimen. The brain is extremely delicate to be studied, it has been seen that in fatal accidents when the skull is pierced the brain erupts in a cloud of gold. So the narrator decides to be the one to dissect his own brain, because any other scientist would reject even the idea of doing it.

Trey wants to make sure he has the future he has alway wanted. Wich list the order of event that would help him be most succesful at achieving that future

Answers

Answer:

When someone has a goal, in this case, Trey, he must have an organized plan to achieve what he wants. In our case, Trey wants to have the future that he always wanted. At this respect there are some points he has to take into account before acting:

What is a goal? It is a purpose someone has to work for.

What do you need to achieve a goal? You need to have an action plan, preferably one that includes short, medium and long term objectives.

Following that postulates, here we’re going to list 5 principal actions that Trey needs to follow to achieve his goals:

1. Thinks what he wants to achieve soon

2. Thinks what he wants to achieve in a medium-term

3. Thinks what he wants to achieve in a long-term

4. Identifies and lists, as a minimum, five actions that he would do to achieve his goals in each one of the three moments

5. Organizes and schedules his actions in order to enable its later evaluation.

TIPS:

When you have a goal, try to not change it many times, instead, if you identify another need in the process, you can set another goal

When acting to achieve something don’t get yourself under excessive pressure (that is why we prefer to manage it setting little goals).

Trey achieves success through setting clear goals, actively participating in sports, receiving social recognition, and excelling in education, which exemplifies how identifying goals, seeking support, and continuous engagement in skill-building activities contribute to a successful future.

Trey is an example of someone who has set clear objectives and has worked hard to achieve success and a sense of inclusion, despite facing significant personal challenges. By actively participating in sports like wrestling and wheelchair basketball, Trey built not only physical strength but also important social connections and recognition, such as receiving a Medal of Courage and attending his school's prom. His continued education in college and dedication to maintaining good grades while enjoying wheelchair basketball showcases his resilience and capacity to adapt to new environments and challenges, factors which have greatly contributed to his overall success and personal growth.

For Trey or anyone looking to ensure a successful future, a possible order of events might include identifying goals and priorities, seeking support from friends, family, and mentors, actively engaging in activities that foster growth, and reflecting on accomplishments to set new objectives. Having a support system, maintaining good grades, and participating in activities that build character and skills are all actions that can positively impact one's career path and personal development.

D). Prepositional phrases or participial phrases.

Choppy sentences are too short that may break the flow unnecessarily and sound and lessen the effectiveness of the writing. Prepositional phrases function as a modifier in the sentence, either as an adjective or as an adverb and indicate relationships between the different elements present in a sentence which would be quite helpful to avoid the choppiness of the sentences. These phrases consist of the preposition, its object, and the modifier of the object that would offer description, and length to the sentence and prevent the thoughts from being disconnected abruptly. "Shooting an Elephant" George Orwell is a story of imperialism  and the ratio of the local population inhabited by Imperial Britain. Imperialism is the most powerful force in world history. It exists today, moved from the colonial era to neo-colonial or neo-imperialism. During this transition, modes and strategies were changed, but the goal remained the same - to rule and exploit the natives, using their strength, military, economic and technological.

Killing an elephant shows various aspects of imperialism, imperialism is a double sword that inflicts damage on both sides, the local population and the British officer representing the imperial empire. When he killed the animal, he had to calm the Burmese. The fact that the Burmese decides what the imperial officer must do about it, provides an ironic image of a master who becomes a slave to fulfill his racial and imperial duties. Here, Orwell asks an important question: if an officer, a good man, can be corrupted and destroyed by imperialism, what happens to those who are not so honest?

The officer is aware of the malevolence of imperialism, but he is also aware of the ways in which beasts turn locals under the influence of imperialism. Local Buddhist priests laugh at him because in essence it was not necessary to kill an elephant, which was the consequence of his clumsy decision. However, there is no greater embarrassment than laughter in the face, sent to the white officer of the British Empire.

Final answer:

In medieval literature and history, becoming a knight involved acts of valor, pledging fealty, and upholding the chivalrous code. A ceremony officiates the knighting, typically after a squire has shown worth through dedicated service and military prowess.

Explanation:

The concept of becoming a knight in tales often revolves around themes of chivalry, bravery, and service. In the context of medieval literature and history, a knight would typically earn their title through acts of valor, allegiance to a lord, and adhering to the chivalrous code. This is evident in the references presented, such as the depiction of a feudal pledge of fealty in the Bayeux Tapestry and the ideal qualities of a knight described in various literary excerpts. Literature often portrays knights as upholding high moral standards, being merciful and just in all men's eyes, and demonstrating unwavering dedication to their cause or lady, as seen in the poem about the knight and the Lady of Shalott.

Moreover, the process included an elaborate ceremony where a squire would be officially dubbed a knight, often by a liege lord or a knight of higher rank, after proving their worth through service and training. William's ascension to knighthood would likely include a combination of personal qualities, fealty to a sovereign, and evidence of his capabilities in military strategy and combat, as portrayed in the provided material about preparations for war and tactics of the cavalry.

How does Thetis help Achilles? How long will it take her to complete her task?

Thetis and Achilles are two Iliad’s figures and the strong bond between mother and son represents one of the great poetic themes .

Thetis is more than a supporting character in Homer's epic poem infact her actions greatly influence the war and its consequences.

There is some evidence that the sea-goddess played a more central role in the religious beliefs and practices of Archaic Greece. When Achilles feels wronged or in trouble, he turns to his mother for help , which she provides. His child was a mortal like his father Peleus, so he is destined to have a short life even though his mother was an immortal sea goddess.

She played a key part the Trojan War events. Nine years after the beginning of the Trojan War, the Iliad starts with Agamemnon, the King of the Achaeans, and Achilles, arguing over Briseis, a war prize of Achilles.

Finally Achilles, disgraced by Agamemnon, refuses to fight to demonstrate how much the Greeks need him to win the war. Thetis convinces  Achilles to wait until she speaks with Jove to rejoin the fighting and he waited. She begs Jove to let win the Trojans, even if they are enemies of his son.

Thetis is aware that the Trojans are destined to defeat, but asks Jove to postpone that moment, making them win some battles, so that the Greeks beg Achilles to return to fight and Agamemnon asks the hero's forgiveness.

Write a paragraph to provide an example of how Animal Farm is an allegory for the Russian Revolution. Consider the characters and events that George Orwell includes in his novel, as well as people, philosophies, events, and organizations from history. Include evidence from the story as you make your comparisons.

Answers

Animal Farm is a novel first published in England in 1945, as an allegory for and criticism of the Russian Revolution. The revolt of the animals against Farmer Jones is an analogy for the Bolshevik Revolution. The Battle of the Cowshed is a representation of the allied invasion of Soviet Russia in 1918. The pigs rise in power resembles the rise of Stalinists, and the consolidation of Napoleon as the farm leader mirrors Stalin's appearance as a significant character. The puppies controlled by Napoleon represent the Secret Police force that answered to Stalin. The rivalry between Napoleon and Snowball mimics that between Joseph Stalin and Leon Trotsky. Mr. Jones is representation of the Russian Tsar Nicholas II, who was murdered by the Bolsheviks, following the February Revolution of 1917. Horses and donkeys in the story represent the working class. They were loyal, dedicated animals in the story, particularly Boxer, who was faithful and strong, and who believed that any problem could be solved by working harder. When Boxer was injured, he was sold by Napoleon to buy whisky, but a more dramatic and moving account of his disappearance was given to the rest of the animals. The sheep are said to represent the controlled press at the time. They blindly followed Napoleon, and regarded anything he said or did as the absolute truth. The seven commandments that become the law at the human-free farm are altered and edited along the story, mimicking the corruption at the time. Laws were altered by the pigs in the story, to make it seem as if they were not braking any rules.  The ending of the story is an allusion to the Tehran Conference held in 1943. This agreement was critized by both sides, a great image represented by the fact that pigs and humans cannot be told apart.

Answer:

Animal Farm is an allegory for the Russian Revolution and life in the Soviet Union. The story includes many characters and ideas that represent people and events from Soviet history. One example is Napoleon, a character that represents Joseph Stalin. Like his historical counterpart, Napoleon rises to power, and then becomes corrupted by that power. He drives Snowball off the farm and into exile, which is similar to what Stalin did to Trotsky. He also oppresses the other animals, much like Stalin oppressed the people of the Soviet Union.
