What was the consequence of Germany having to accept this article?
Germany would have to pay war reparations.
Germany would have to accept new colonies.
Germany would have to give part of its territory to Poland.
Germany would have to join the League of Nations.

Answers

Answer 1

Answer:  Germany would have to pay war reparations.

Details:

The Treaty of Versailles, which came out of the Paris Peace Conference in 1919, was very punitive towards Germany.  Germany was forced to admit responsibility for causing the Great War (World War I).  We now call that "the war guilt" clause of the treaty.   Since Germany was held responsible by that clause of the treaty, Germany also was forced to pay large reparation payments to the Allies (who opposed Germany in the war).

The German economy and national pride were deeply wounded by the terms imposed by the Treaty of Versailles.  Coupled with that, the Great Depression (which had worldwide impact) made the economic situation even worse.  The bad situation in Germany made it possible for a radical leader like Hitler, making all sorts of bold promises, to win over enough people to rise to power.  Hitler promised a return to national greatness and fiercely rebuilt Germany as a military machine.  The rise of Hitler and the Nazis brought about World War II in Europe.

Answer 2

The answer is....

A.) Germany would have to pay war reparations.

Almost one-third of the world's population does not have access to clean water. True False

Answers

true. most of the population around the world has almost no access to clean water.

Final answer:

The statement is true, almost one-third of the world's population lacks access to clean water. The small portion of accessible fresh water, coupled with the mounting pressures of global population and environmental changes, exacerbates this issue. The water crisis often severely impacts the most vulnerable populations such as low-income countries and can impede socio-economic advancement, notably through impacts on health and education.

Explanation:

The statement that almost one-third of the world's population does not have access to clean water is indeed true. Lack of access to clean water significantly contributes to medical issues in low-income countries.

Let's understand some figures. Only 2.5 percent of water on Earth is fresh water, and less than 1 percent of that is easily accessible to humans and other living things. This indicates a global shortage of usable fresh water.

The water crisis also interlinks with many other social issues. For example, in certain regions, children often carry the burden of traveling long distances to fetch potable water. This task interferes with their educational opportunities and has a negative impact on their physical health, particularly for pregnant women. The situation worsens as our global population and environmental pressures increase, making clean water a major resource battleground in the twenty-first century.

B. He thought integration was an education issue.
C. He thought integration was a religious issue.
D. He thought integration was an economic issue.

A is the correct answer, but it does hide the truth of the matter.

Governor George Wallace did oppose the integration of the University of Alabama because he believed that integration was a state's rights issue.

What this ignores is the reason. George Wallace did believe in state's rights but he was also a noted bigot and segregationist. George Wallace wanted integration to be a State's issue because he did not want the State of Alabama to integrate due to his feelings about African-Americans.

A - He thought integration was a states’ rights issue.

Explanation:

The New Deal, implemented by President Franklin Delano Roosevelt during the Great Depression, had several key achievements:

Reform of the Banking System: The New Deal led to major reforms in the banking system, including the establishment of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in 1933 which protected depositors' money, thereby restoring trust in the banking system.Job Creation: The creation of work-relief programs like the Works Progress Administration provided employment for millions of Americans, thus reducing unemployment and boosting consumer spending.Agricultural Adjustment: Programs were introduced to stabilize agricultural markets, which included payments to farmers to reduce crop acreage and increase farm prices, alleviating the plight of the American farmer.

Which correctly describes how the first life on earth could have occurred by spontaneous generations

Answers

According to spontaneous generation, life could most probably have occurred as a result of:

First, the various chemicals could react with each other to form lots of new compounds, some of which would be more complex. Some supposed that the molecules central to life, like sugars and amino acids, could all have formed in Earth's waters. Modern theories have departures from most of spontaneous generations premises, still, the origin of life on Earth continues to be set on water.

Answer:

In an environment without free oxygen, amino acids, nucleic acids, and lipids were able to increase in number. In large amounts, these molecules could have formed simple life forms.

Explanation:

The abiogenesis i.e the origin of life states a hypothesis that primitive life originated from inanimate things. It is believed that before-life, chemical reactions between carbon and water gave rise to life, probably with lightning. Which induced the production of the following chemicals: lipids, carbohydrates, amino acids and nucleic acids. The reaction over a period of time produces the self-replicating molecules of Ribonucleic Acid.

This gives a great tendency for the first life to have been generated from a sporadic increase of amino acids, nucleic acids, and lipids in the absence of oxygen.

He is sent back to Baltimore to live with Master Hugh and learn a trade. D. He is sold farther south to make it more difficult for him to escape.

Answers

Final answer:

Frederick Douglass' punishment for trying to escape is not detailed explicitly in Chapter 10 of his narrative, but based on the narrative, his return to Baltimore to live with Master Hugh would be the correct punishment option.

Explanation:

The question is asking about the punishment Frederick Douglass faced for attempting to escape in Chapter 10 of Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass. Douglass' punishment, after his attempted escape, is not explicitly detailed in Chapter 10 of his narrative. However, based on the options provided and the fact that Douglass continued to live under the control of Master Hugh and was sent back to Baltimore to live with him after his failed attempt, the closest answer would be option C. He is sent back to Baltimore to live with Master Hugh and learn a trade. The attempt to keep Douglass from becoming educated is a theme in the narrative, which Douglass identifies as a strategy to maintain the enslavement of black people. His initial literacy education by Mistress Hugh was met with resistance and fury when discovered, as she understood that education and slavery were incompatible. This fight for literacy and education by Douglass later contributed to his work in the abolitionist movement where he used his knowledge to fight for the rights and equality of black individuals.

what was a primary reason for the establishment of the open door policy

Answers

Final answer:

The Open Door Policy was established to ensure the United States had equal access to Chinese markets amidst European and Japanese spheres of influence, maintaining China's sovereignty and leveraging American economic advantages in high-quality and cost-effective goods.

Explanation:

A primary reason for the establishment of the Open Door Policy was the United States' ambition to secure equal trade opportunities in China without being excluded by the spheres of influence established by other powers such as Great Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and Japan. The policy, introduced through letters by U.S. Secretary of State John Hay in 1899, aimed to prevent the partition of China by these powers and maintain China's territorial integrity, ensuring that all countries had equal trading rights. This move was motivated by the desire of American businesses to access China's vast markets without the restrictions of spheres of influence and without engaging in the colonial or territorial control that European powers pursued.

The Open Door Policy significantly favored the United States because American businesses produced higher-quality and lower-cost goods than those of other countries, allowing them to dominate the Chinese market under this 'free trade' arrangement. Hay's diplomacy effectively leveraged this economic advantage, promoting American interests while ostensibly presenting the policy as a measure for the mutual benefit of all foreign powers involved and the preservation of China's sovereignty.

Correct answer:  C. The congress system if set up became a model for the United Nations.

Explanation:

My authority source for choosing answer C is the United Nations itself.  UN Chronicle, the magazine of the United Nations, featured an article titled, "From the Congress of Vienna to Present-Day International Organizations" (December, 2014).  That article asserts points such as these:

When did the process of international organization start?1 It was not in 1945 nor in 1919. Rather, it was the Congress of Vienna (1814-15) that proved to be the relevant turning point in history, when certain conditions allowed a number of European States to set in motion a series of innovations, inventions and learning processes that shaped the core of what we today refer to as international organizations (IOs).The major innovation at Vienna was the follow-up conference. This new idea resulted in the custom of participating States to convene, upon reaching an agreement, a follow-up conference to assess whether previously agreed-upon decisions and policies had been executed. ... Consequently, since 1815, that innovative idea resulted in an ongoing cycle of conferences dealing with similar and related issues. Apart from continuity, the cycle produced incremental decision-making and path dependency with regard to selected common solutions and efforts.

Compare and contrast the Hindu caste system with social structures in two of the following during the period c. 600 B.C.E. to c. 1450 C.E.:
Bantu peoples in Africa
civilizations in Mesoamerica and the Andes
medieval Europe

plz 5 paragraph will give brainliest

Answers

The Hindu caste system has been around for at least 3000 years and it was accepted in India as the only way for society to be. Created from the belief that society was born from the Hindu god of creation Brahma, this caste system was both hierarchical and absolutely rigid as it did not allow people from castes to either interact with each other or move. The castes were believed to derive from a person´s karma (work) and dharma (duty) and they were as follows: brahmins or intellectuals, kshatriyas, or warriors and rulers, the vaishyas, or merchants, the Shudras or laborers and finally the Dalits, or outcasts.

In contrast, we have the systems of Mesoamerica and the Andes, Mayas, Aztecs and Incas, among others, whose social structures during the periods 600 B.C.E and 1450 C.E were also composed by scaffolds, but unlike the Hindu´s these scaffolds were not rigid and immovable and they did not derive from a god, but rather, the importance for society of a person´s activities. Thus, their social strata was conformed mostly by the rulers, given their right to rule by the gods, the warriors, crafspeople, who sometimes could be as important as warriors, and finally, slaves, captured from invaded peoples.

In the case of medieval Europe, we had a society that had disbanded from the earlier Roman Empire and thus much smaller kingdoms and especially earldoms were created. In medieval european society, the top strata was formed by the nobilities and the only way to be a part of this society was through birth, exactly as it happened in Hindu society. Also, there was no mobility between the strata. After the nobility, there was the intellectuals and people whose lifestyle depended on a craft, then peasants and finally the outcasts.

In all these societies we can see a similarity; the heads of these societies are people born to the nobility of the nations and their posts cannot be earned but must be inherited. Also, they were all stratified, meaning that it was almost impossible for people to move from one strata to the other and finally, in all three there was a connection between the divinities and the way that society conformed itself.

But there are differences as well. The main one would be the level of rigidity in movement within societies and the repercussions when movement was generated. In Hindu society, social movement was, until recently, unheard of, whereas in medieval european society and the Mesoamerican and Andean societies, this was not as impossible.

The Hindu caste system with social structures, compared to Bantu peoples in Africa civilizations in Mesoamerica and the Andes are very different.Few structures were given varying names while some were without any names which consisted of many people.

Medieval Europe's second group was not too big.The members of this group were called clergy. This clergy included people in the army and some of them higher ranks than those who lived in the lowest classes.

How can you use this document to argue that imperialism (colonization) was one underlying cause of World War I

Answers

Imperialism is a type of advocacy of empire. Its name originated from the Latin word "imperium", which means to rule over large territories. Imperialism is "a policy of extending a country's power and influence through colonization, use of military force, or other means".[2] Imperialism has greatly shaped the contemporary world.[3] It has also allowed for the rapid spread of technologies and ideas. The term imperialism has been applied to Western (and Japanese) political and economic dominance especially in Asia and Africa in the 19th and 20th centuries. Its precise meaning continues to be debated by scholars. Some writers, such as Edward Said, use the term more broadly to describe any system of domination and subordination organised with an imperial center and a periphery.[4]

Imperialism is defined as "A policy of extending a country’s power and influence through diplomacy or military force."[5] Imperialism is particularly focused on the control that one group, often a state power, has on another group of people.[6] This is often through various forms of "othering" (see other) based on racial, religious, or cultural stereotypes. There are "formal" or "informal" imperialisms. "Formal imperialism" is defined as "physical control or full-fledged colonial rule".[6] "Informal imperialism" is less direct; however, it is still a powerful form of dominance.[6]

The definition of imperialism has not been finalized for centuries and was confusedly seen to represent the policies of major powers, or simply, general-purpose aggressiveness. Further on, some writers[who?] used the term imperialism, in slightly more discriminating fashion, to mean all kinds of domination or control by a group of people over another. To clear out this confusion about the definition of imperialism one could speak of "formal" and "informal" imperialism, the first meaning physical control or "full-fledged colonial rule" while the second implied less direct rule though still containing perceivable kinds of dominance.[6] Informal rule is generally less costly than taking over territories formally. This is because, with informal rule, the control is spread more subtly through technological superiority, enforcing land officials into large debts that cannot be repaid, ownership of private industries thus expanding the controlled area, or having countries agree to uneven trade agreements forcefully.[7]

It is mostly accepted that modern-day colonialism is an expression of imperialism and cannot exist without the latter. The extent to which "informal" imperialism with no formal colonies is properly described remains a controversial topic amongst historians.[8] Both colonization and imperialism have been described by Tom Nairn and Paul James as early forms of globalization:

Even if a particular empire does not have a "global reach" as we would define it today, empires by their nature still tend to contribute to processes of globalization because of the way that imperial power tends to generate counter-power at its edge-lands and send out reverberations far beyond the territories of their immediate control.[9]

The word imperialism became common in Great Britain during the 1870s and was used with a negative connotation.[10] In Britain, the word had until then mostly been used to refer to the politics of Napoleon III in obtaining favorable public opinion in France through foreign military interventions

What social issues were being dealt with by America in the 1980’s?

Answers

I believe the correct answer is segregation

Final answer:

During the 1980s, America contended with the HIV/AIDS crisis, a war on drugs, and socio-economic disparities worsened by racial discrimination and a decrease in federal community support. The era is remembered for social conservatism, political challenges to civil liberties, and high rates of incarceration, as well as a culture of material wealth contrasted with widespread charity efforts.

Explanation:

Social Issues in America During the 1980s

The 1980s in America were characterized by a variety of social issues that shaped the nation's political and cultural landscape. One significant issue was the onset of the HIV/AIDS crisis, which triggered widespread panic and discrimination, particularly against the gay community. As the disease became associated chiefly with gay men, there was a failure to act by the general public, the medical community, and especially the federal government, leading to advocacy movements pushing for more research and support.

Simultaneously, the nation faced a 'war on drugs,' marked by harsh law enforcement and sentencing policies that disproportionately affected Black and Hispanic communities, resulting in mass incarceration on racial grounds. This era also saw a retreat from progress made by civil rights movements, with a decline in support for affirmative action and an assault on urban black communities through such means as reduced federal grants and the introduction of crack cocaine, leading to exacerbated socio-economic disparities.

Despite the perceived material affluence and 'decade of greed,' the 1980s also witnessed acts of generosity, with increased donations to charities domestically and internationally. Nonetheless, many Americans still grappled with poverty, racial and ethnic discrimination, which were compounded by socio-political and economic challenges of the times.

Describe two roles of government intervention that Adam Smith conceded were necessary in their approach to the economy.

Answers

Adam Smith is considered the founder of modern economics. He stated that the economic is guided by an invisible hand and that governments should interfere less in some areas of the economic to make it more efficient. He specified that government intervention could be best used in these areas.

1) The creation of social security regulations and also provide national defense to protect the society and all citizens from all the violence and invasions or attack forces from other societies. These of course,  is what every society  from every country would like to have.

2)  The government should establish an exact administration of justice in the context of order and law. These refers to have a court system to apply the right justice for all citizens of a society in an equal manner.

These roles are based on the understanding that markets, while efficient in many respects, are not perfect and can fail to deliver optimal outcomes for society in certain instances. Government intervention in these areas is seen as a way to correct market failures and to provide the necessary conditions for markets to operate effectively.

Adam Smith, often referred to as the father of modern economics, outlined the concept of the invisible hand and the benefits of free markets in his seminal work The Wealth of Nations. However, he also acknowledged that there were certain roles that only the government could fulfill effectively in an economy. Two such roles are:

1. Provision of Public Goods: Adam Smith recognized that there were certain goods and services that would not be provided at all, or would be underprovided, by the private sector due to their nature as public goods.

2. Regulation of Monopolies and Fraudulent Practices: Smith was wary of monopolies and the potential for businesses to engage in practices that would harm consumers. He believed that in the absence of competition, businesses would have the incentive and ability to raise prices and reduce quality.
