Why was freedom important to the Frontier settlers??

Answers

Answer 1

The nascent British Empire followed a mercantilist economic policy, in which the goal was to enrich Britain, especially its already powerful bourgeoisie that exercised power since the Glorious Revolution. This policy was viewed with suspicion by the settlers because it directly harmed them by considering the colonies as mere producers of raw materials and markets for the productions of the metropolis.

The first reaction of American producers and merchants was smuggling, which became the most widespread tactic to avoid restrictions on trade with the French, Spanish or Dutch. Mercantilism aimed to achieve trade surpluses, so that gold and silver would concentrate in London, the colonies, on the other hand, were captive markets for British industry. The government participated through the rights and taxes, and the rest went to the English merchants. The category of public administration that benefited most was the military, especially the British Navy.

The Thirteen British colonies in North America had enjoyed some autonomy, being less productive than the Caribbean islands. Each of these colonies developed its own system of government, based largely on independent farmers who owned their own land, voted in favor of their local and provincial government.

As Britain reorganized its new empire, the settlers resented the control now imposed on them, which, they perceived, violated their rights and freedoms. In some colonies, especially Virginia, the Carolinas and Georgia, there were important African slave populations. After a series of tax protests in the 1760s and 1770s, these colonies united politically and militarily in opposition to the British government fought in the American Revolutionary War, from 1775 to 1783. For all of the above it is that for the colonists it was very important to maintain your freedom.

Answers

In Japan, the emperor had nearly total power, but he was also assisted by his ministers and counselors.  Because the sentence is in the past we can assume that the sentence alludes to the emperor Hirohito who had more power at that time. Nowadays the emperor in Japan is almost like a decorative figure since the Prime Minister has more power.

The military had near-total control in Japan during the early-to-mid 20th century while Emperor Hirohito served as a symbolic figure. Post-WWII, Japan was occupied by the U.S., which helped transition Japan to a democratic government with a constitutional monarchy under Hirohito.

In Japan, the military had nearly total power, but it was also assisted by the figurehead Emperor Hirohito, who acted as the symbolic power of the nation. During the rise of Nazi Germany, Japan experienced its own consolidation of power as the military assumed dictatorial control, while the emperor maintained a ceremonial role. The military's influence peaked in the mid-20th century leading into World War II, where Japan sought to expand its territorial control due to economic struggles and a lack of raw materials such as oil, rubber, and metals.

Following World War II, Japan underwent major reforms under the guidance of the United States. Americans, led by General Douglas MacArthur, occupied Japan and implemented demilitarization, democratization, and the promotion of human rights, leading to the establishment of a parliamentary monarchy under the same emperor.

While the emperor was the traditional ruler, it was the military, especially from the mid-1930s onward, that exerted real political power, ultimately guiding Japan through significant historical events and interactions, including its ambitions in China and Southeast Asia during World War II.

how do the environmental policy accomplishment of George w. bush compare with those of Barack Obama? Which presidential had more success forwarding his agenda?

Answers

George W. Bush's environmental policies during his presidency weren't that succesfull to begin with. On his presidential campaign he promised tu reduce carbon dioxide emissions by a considerable amount and a year after he won, he backed down on that promise claiming that carbon dioxide was not a pollutant under the Clean Air Act and that restricting it, it would cause energy prices to go up.

In 2001, he got out of the Kyoto Protocol, a treaty that required nations to reduced their greenhouse emissions and even the administration views on global warming were really controversial. They acknowledged it but they claim that it was because of natural causes instead of man made.

On the other hand, under Barack Obama's presidency, the largest marine reserve in the world was established, but to be fair, it was started by Bush's administration, albeit in a much smaller scale. He rejected the Keystone XL oil pipeline, voted against Bush's CLean Skies act, raised the fuel efficiency standards and invested in green energy during the Great Recession.

Final answer:

President George W. Bush pursued less regulations, focusing more on economic growth, embodied in his support for the Americans with Disabilities Act. President Barack Obama took a more active stance towards environmental protection, raising fuel-efficiency standards and controlling carbon emissions, also implementing Obamacare.

Explanation:

The environment policies of George W. Bush and Barack Obama differed vastly in their respective presidencies, reflecting their distinct political stances. President George W. Bush's environmental policy was generally less aggressive, focusing more on economic growth and less regulation. However, under his administration, he supported the Americans with Disabilities Act, which prohibited discrimination based on disability in public accommodations, signalling his commitment to civil rights.

On the other hand, Barack Obama had more progressive environmental mandates. His administration was more committed to pushing forward environmental protection measures, such as raising fuel-efficiency standards and requiring coal-burning power plants to control their carbon emissions. A significant accomplishment was his implementation of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), demonstrating his commitment to healthcare for all Americans.

In this unit, you learned how historians use primary sources to study the past. Today, many records of our lives can only be found online. Those records, however, can be lost if their creators choose to delete them. Do we have an obligation to future generations to preserve our online records? If so, how do we balance the preservation of online content with our own right to privacy in the present? If you think we don’t have this obligation, why not?

I think it's a good idea that we get conscious as a society about preserving important documents, which safety we may take for granted because they're stored online. However, when it comes to content that is harder to categorize as either public or private, we need to think more carefully about how we make that distinction.

In the past, people wrote stuff on notepads in their home or kept diaries which should be considered private; and you could also write a book and release it or letters to the newspaper which would be considered public. Now we can also do those things but there are platforms that place our information in between, like cloud storage or social media. Is a facebok post private or public?

I believe the law should adapt in order to protect our information against disclosure and make the distinctions between public and private affairs in online platforms more clear to keep a balance.

If he had put the French people first, and not think about himself and his life, he would've of kept the economy more successful than what he decided to do. In a short paragraph, analyze the influence of the work of Sigmund Freud on the social sciences. Be certain to include examples to formulate and give your opinion on how Freud impacts you today.

Answers

People often tend to mistakingly state Austrian physician Sigmund Freud, credited as the creator of Psychoanalysis, as a psychologist. In fact, back in his time Psychology as such was not fully formulated as a scientific discipline; Freud was himself a Neurologist. Psychoanalysis is a clinical method used to treat psychopatologies; we can safely state that from its foundation we became familiar with the notion that most psychopatologies stem from sexual repression, which is a consequence of the process of becoming a civilization. Freud and Psychoanalysis' impact on social sciences could be measured in terms that the roots of certain psychiatric illnesses -such as schizophrenia and neurosis- should not be regarded as rooted in physiological but rather mental family-history-related processes. This method also supports the acknowledgement of our own animal, in-the-end-not-so-apart-from-nature condition as a species. Furthermore, Psychoanalysis brought the assumption that all of us host ongoing inconscious processes in our minds -in Literature, it originated the Molly Bloom's vast stream of consciousness we find in James Joyce's Ulysses. Freud's impact on us stays strong and affects the levels of sexualization we find in every aspect of our current lives.

Sigmund Freud was considered the father of psychoanalysis. He was interested in consciousness and subconsciousness. He was the one who developed and used free association to understand people's behavior. Freud also developed the idea of id, ego, and superego. He impacts the world today because people use the word ego a lot nowadays.

The religious gatherings that took place during the second great awakening were called CAMP meetings?

The Second Great Awakening or Second Great Revival (1790-1840) was a time of unusual revival or Christian revival that extended into the American antebellum period, characterized by an unprecedented Christian evangelizing activity and large numbers of conversions. Its name is due to the Great Awakening, a similar period that had taken place about half a century before. It produced a deep feeling in churches and congregations throughout New England, the Mid-Atlantic, the Northwest and the South of the United States. Because of this preachers like Charles Finney, Lyman Beecher, Barton Stone, Peter Cartwright and Asahel Nettleton ended up becoming well known. The identification of evangelization with social causes was intensified, which affected American life in areas such as the reform of prisons, abolitionism and the promotion of abstinence.

In the Appalachian region, the awakening rode on the backs of large concentrations in camp meetings, taking on tints similar to those of the First Great Awakening of the previous century. The camp meeting was a religious service that lasted several days; In it several preachers were presented. Settlers from sparsely populated areas waited with anticipation for camp meetings that meant a certain escape from the routine of life set apart in the border regions. The dance, the songs and the extroverted shouts that were associated with this type of meetings had their origin in the genuine joy of participating in a religious revival together with hundreds, maybe thousands of people.
